新苑藝術將於 5 月 20 日至 6 月 19 日推出張騰遠的個展《Solitaire》,開幕活動謹訂於 5 月 22 日(週六)。繼《單人任務》之後時隔三年,新苑藝術很榮幸再次邀請到張騰遠舉辦個展。《Solitaire》 延續鸚鵡人系列——關於來自銀河系邊陲星球的鸚鵡人在人類終結之後在地球進行考古的故事。
在《Solitaire》中,鸚鵡人將接續他們在以往的任務:作為一種外在視野的透鏡帶領觀者重新檢 視人類文明的境況。本次展覽將目光移向因新冠疫情而持續動盪的 2021 年,藉由鸚鵡人的考古 發掘探討人類在 2021 年後所面對的新日常。張騰遠以「接龍」(Solitaire)命名本次個展,將牌 局的不可預測性作為當下疫情生活的隱喻,並以平行世界去包裹疫後世界的命題,使《Solitaire》 處在一種既真實又虛幻的狀態,隨之拋出疑問:如果平行世界是存在於抽象之中的風景,而疫後 世界則是我們即將要面對的未來,那麼這兩者哪一個比較虛幻,哪一個比較真實呢?
藝術家張騰遠,出生於高雄,目前在台北生活與創作。2008 獲高雄美術獎首獎,2009 台北美術 獎優選,作品受國美館、藝術銀行、高美館等多所機構典藏。張騰遠自 2012 年起,以末日考古 為概 念,創造一個虛擬的末日故事,透過虛構的手法,以平面繪畫、動畫空間裝置以及複合媒 材等 作為其概念的承載體,作品中,張騰遠擷取東西方繪畫裡的元素,將其符號化,重新建構, 創造東西混合的新視覺畫面。作品曾在倫敦,科隆,紐約,東京,大阪,首爾及台北等地以個展 和聯展的形式發表。
Galerie Grand Siècle is pleased to present "Solitaire" solo exhibition by Chang, Teng-Yuan from May 20th to June 19th. The opening reception is on May 22nd (Saturday). We are honored to hold again a solo exhibition for Chang, Teng-Yuan at Galerie Grand Siècle three years after the exhibition "Single Mission". "Solitaire" continues his most well-known series "Parrot Man". Parrot men from a planet at the edge of the Galaxy landed on the earth for archeological survey after Anthropocene.
In "Solitaire", Parrot Men continue their previous mission to induce viewers to re-examine the human civilization through the lens of an external perspective. This exhibition focuses on the continuously inflicted turbulence due to the Coronavirus epidemic in 2021. Chang, Teng-Yuan named his solo exhibition "Solitaire", using the unpredictability of the card game as a metaphor for current epidemic life. He employs the parallel world to present his proposition of the post-epidemic world and places "Solitaire" in a state of being real as well as illusory through the story of Parrot Man. He then raises his question: If the parallel world is a landscape that only exists in abstraction, and the post-epidemic world is the future one we are about to face, which of the two is more illusory or more real?
Chang, Teng-Yuan was born in Kaohsiung. He currently lives and works in Taipei. He won the grand prize of the” Kaohsiung Award” in 2008, and the honorable mention of the “2009 Taipei Art Awards”. He has created a virtual doomsday story in terms of the concept of doomsday archeology since 2012. Flat paintings, animation space installations, and composite media were used as a carrier to convey his concepts. Chang, Teng-Yuan captures different elements from Eastern and Western paintings in his works; the elements are symbolized and reconstructed to create a new visual image that fuses Eastern and Western essentials. His works have been displayed in solo and group exhibitions in London, Cologne, New York, Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul and Taipei.

CHANG Teng-Yuan
CHANG, TENG-YUAN, an artist, was born in Kaohsiung. Now, he is residing in Taipei, where he carries out his artistic creations. Since 2012, Chang has created a doomsday saga, with doomsday archeology as the concept. With fictional means, he uses paintings, animation spatial installations, and mixed media as the carriers of his thoughts. In his works, Chang fuses eastern and western elements of painting. Transforming them into signs, he re-constructs and creates new visual images with the fusion of the east and west. His works have been presented in solo exhibitions or joint exhibitions in London, Cologne, New York, Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul and Taipei. He established the Compound Eye Art Studio where Chang provides help and technical backup in artistic creations as well as endeavors in crossover collaboration. Working with other people, he expects to create a larger force in artistic creation.

鸚鵡人在末日地球的故事,就像是一部不斷連載的漫畫,會隨著時空條件的不同而改變故事線。另一 方面,其實它也像是我們所處世界的另一個平行世界。在那個平行世界裡,鸚鵡人們透過模仿人類的 行為,推測人類的行為與決策選擇,進一步釐清地球末日的原因。
鸚鵡人考古發現,2021 年的地球,進入疫後變化。因生活上的旅行隔離,社交距離,到疫苗在人類 體內所發生的變化,而產生的變數,彼此複雜交錯著,讓人類世界的走向更無法預測。而這個不可預 測,也是人類在 2021 年後所面對的新日常。
在接龍(Solitaire)的牌局裡面,最好的狀況是你可以不斷地拿到相對應的數字,順利地將數字接龍 下去,完成牌局。但牌面總是千變萬化,下一張會拿到的數字是不可測的,所以常呈現一種“要先面 對總總不可測因數,慢慢地將局面導向相對正確方向”的狀況。
疫後的世界,像是在人類世界加入了無數不可測的變數,讓本來的走向不再,人類也必續快速地適應 新世界的到來,在新日常裡生活。
透過鸚鵡人的故事脈絡,以平行世界去包裹疫後世界的命題,是因為我認為它可以形成一種既真實又 虛幻的狀態。平行世界是存在於抽象之中的風景,而疫後世界則是我們即將要面對的未來,這兩者哪 一個比較虛幻,哪一個比較真實呢?
